I’m a big fan of the mini-trend of artists creating alternate movie posters, either updating classics or just interpreting their favourite movies in an original way. I deal with movie posters a lot in my job and they tend to be rather formulaic, so a poster that doesn’t worry about shoe-horning in names and faces of stars and isn’t decked out in marquees and catch-phrases is rather refreshing.
I like Laz Marquez’s interpretations of some classic Hitchcock movies (may even inspire me to watch some of the films), but my two favourite sets so far are Jamie Bolton’s alt-minimal movie posters and their TV equivalents courtesy of Albert Exergian.
The one for Mad Men is particularly awesome:
